Snapchat has been a leading app in new media over the past year. They’ve added new features to better engage their audience, and it’s working! Recently they added a magazine stand where their users can read the latest stories from publications like Seventeen and People. Although the features that the fairly new app has to offer has gotten them very popular, the app has also made a way for entrepreneurs to get paid as well.

Cyrene Quiamco is a web designer who makes a living by creating sponsored Snapchat stories for larger brands. She receives about 35,000 views on her Snapchat stories, and from her creativity she started landing deals with popular brands. Her first deal was with NBC’s “The Voice”. Her assignment was to draw two snaps for them for promotion purposes. After that she worked with brands such as Disney, Samsung, Burger King, 20th Century Fox, and Lionsgate.

Quiamco says that in the beginning she made between $1,000-$10,000 per story. Since then the numbers have definitely grown, with her last project earning $25,000. Talk about a girl boss who used her social media to expand her brand!

Not only does the story of Cyrene Quiamco introduce the new media of our generation, but it talks about the different ways that entrepreneurs and creative’s are using it to their advantage to grow their brand.

Like the old adage says, “Work smarter, not harder”.
