Disney Gets a New Princess!

The Disney network is known for their beautiful princesses. Whether it’s Cinderella, Mulan or Tiana, the network never failed to create relatable characters. Now, there’s a new addition to the previous 11 princesses, and her name is Moana. Moana is a Polynesian 16-year-old from Oceania who will be seen going on a quest in honor of her ancestors.
Moana will be played by a 14-year-old from Hawaii, named Auli’i Cravahlo and because of the new role her life will change forever. The teen always wanted to be a disney princess, but didn’t think she actually could.

According to PEOPLE, Cravahlo said:

“I was getting through my freshman year, and there were already so many great submissions over YouTube.”

This deterred her from auditioning, so it wasn’t until a talent agent discovered her while singing at a charity event that convinced her to do it. Cravahlo got the role despite over 600 girls trying out, and will be playing alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. His role is a demigod named Maui and he will help her on her voyage.
